The tide turned in the fifties, when Les Paul himself advised Gibson to buy the company. Back in the roaring twenties, Epiphone actually had the upper hand on rival company Gibson, duelling with them to create ever bigger and more ornate hollowbody guitars.
Epiphone have enjoyed quite the rollercoaster ride over the last hundred-and-something years they’ve existed as a company.
